ACAN Natural Materials Detail Library

Natural Materials specification is climate action!

Conventional building materials have a huge impact on the carbon emissions and the broader health of our planet.

By choosing natural materials you can greatly reduce the impact of construction. Natural materials provide healthy, low carbon, low impact, resilient, local and beautiful construction resources. Natural Materials should become the new ‘conventional’.

To help architects design better buildings, the ACAN Natural Materials group have brought together this collection of construction details. Designed within a UK/European context, these details are the beginning of an expanding library of drawings, data and directories; to help the construction industry to make the critical shift to ensure a liveable planet for future generations.

The information has been collected since the inception of the ACAN NM group, by volunteers, over the last 5 years. Details come from openly available information and have been reformatted by us to create uniform, consistent and comparable content. We are actively looking for people to contribute to this project, either financially or with time. If you would like to add details, more information or comment on the library, please contact us.
