Published in March 2026, this document sums up the discussions and key takeaways from Circular Construction: Storage and Logistics Round Table, which was led by ACAN’s Circular Economy Task group in October
Last October, the ACAN Circular Economy Task Group hosted a Construction Materials Reuse: Storage & Logistics roundtable, bringing together key industry bodies, facilitators and material users.
The discussion focused on how better storage and logistics can support material reuse in construction and also, the need to have open communication to avoid duplication of efforts and encourage collaboration across the sector.
Key areas of recent progress most highlighted within the group were knowledge sharing, pilot studies and logistics solutions; the priorities/ challenges most cited were economic viability, storage space and certification, warranty & insurance; and the most frequently mentioned areas of future focus were business models, materials selection, behaviour change and insurance, as priorities for unlocking circular construction.
In the process of sharing progress to date, current challenges and priorities, and future focus, the group also put forward potential joint projects and shared objectives for ongoing work towards improving infrastructure for circular construction; these will be explored further at the next group meeting.
